I'm usually the "bottled sauce" girl, although I do normally try to get sauce that is organic and doesn't have stuff in it, but I needed something w/o added sugar, and nothing seemed to fit the bill. So I made my own for the first time ever! Again, no recipe, flying by the seat of my pants and making it up as I go along.
Note - I bought this cool "Zoodler" from Amazon to make these noodles!
1 Can Organic Tomato Sauce (no sugar added)
1 Can Organic Tomato Paste
3/4 C Water
1 lb Ground Meat of Choice
2-3 Zuchinni shredded into "Zoodles"
1 Tsp EVOO
1 Tsp Crushed Garlic
Chili powder to taste
Garlic powder to taste
Onion powder to taste
Sea salt to taste
Cook the ground meet until done, then add in the cans of tomato sauce and paste. Add 3/4 c water (you can add more or less to get desired consistency...I like mine thick with more flavor). Add spices to taste. Once all mixed together well, place on lower heat with a lid and simmer for approx 20-30 min. While meat sauce is simmering, heat EVOO in a saute pan, add garlic and then toss in the zoodles. Saute the zoodles for 5-10 min until soft, but don't over cook. Serve spagetti sauce over zoodles and enjoy. As a side note, my family is still eating real noodles, so they had theirs over pasta while I enjoyed my zoodles!
